It is my pleasure and privelege to serve as the 93rd  President of the Middletown Rotary Club for 2016-2017.. Our club is one of 34,000 thousand clubs, with 1.2 million members worldwide.  All members are committed to "Service Above Self" and making a positive contribution to communities both locally and internationally through humanitarian service, encouraging high ethical standards in all vocations, and helping goodwill and peace around the globe.

Founded in 1925, the Middletown Rotary Club serves 5 towns in the Connecticut Valley including Middletown, Cromwell, Portland, Middlefield and Durham in a variety of programs such as The Annual Turkey Drive, Warm the Children, Student of the Month Awards to high schools in our area, Service Above Self Awards, High School and Middlesex Community College Scholarships, The Arthur and Edythe Director Scholarship, Interact Clubs at Mercy High School and Independent Day School, the Wilfredo Nieves Dictionary for Students, Tools of the Trade, and local and international grants.

To date, Rotary has contributed  more than $1.3 billion to fight polio. Through 2018, the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation will match 2-to-1 every dollar that Rotary commits to polio eradication (up to $35 million a year). Through June of 2016, there were ONLY 16 confirmed polio cases, down from approximately 350,000 a year when the initiative began in 1988.This year's theme is "ROTARY SERVING HUMANITY" and the fact that the world is now 99.9% polio free is the true embodiment of our lofty theme.

If you have a sincere interest in making a positive contribution to your community and to the world, the Middletown Rotary Club welcomes you to join us.Please contact me with any questions and I invite you to join us at our weekly meeting on Tuesdays, 12:15, at First and Last Restaurant, Main Street, Middletown. To learn more about Rotary go to www.rotary.org

Yours In Rotary,
