Rotary connects passionate people with diverse perspectives, locally and all over the world, to exchange ideas, forge lifelong friendships, and above all, take action to change the world for the better.  Our six areas of focus are:

1)   Promote world peace

2)   Fight disease

3)   Provide clean water, sanitation, and hygiene

4)   Save mothers and children

5)   Support education

6)   Grow local economies

It’s hard to write about Rotary without referencing the bedrocks of our 110-year history as cited in:

   •      The universal oath to Service Above Self, pledged by every one of our 1.2 million members in more than 35,000 Clubs around the world, and

   •      Our Four-Way test commitment recited together in each of our meetings: Is it the TRUTH?  Is it FAIR to all concerned?  Will it bring GOODWILL and better FRIENDSHIPS?  Will it be BENEFICIAL to all concerned?

Founded in 1925, the Middletown Rotary Club serves five towns in the Connecticut River Valley; Middletown, Cromwell, Portland, Middlefield, Durham.  Our programs include the Community Thanksgiving Project, Warm the Children, Student of the Month Awards to area high schools, Community Service Awards, High School and MXCC scholarships, youth (Interact) clubs at Mercy High School and Independent Day School, the Wilfredo Nieves Dictionary for Students, Family Literacy programs and funding local grant requests.  Internationally we’ve purchased “shelter boxes” for victims of disasters, provided potable water and irrigation systems in Mexico and Ecuador and assisted a surgical team operating on children with deformed feet in El Salvador.

We strive to stay relevant for boomers and millennials and have made accommodations to increase our membership and diversity while valuing and retaining the wisdom and history of service from older, long standing members who remain eager to engage in their communities in meaningful ways.

Please consider joining us!  We meet on Tuesdays at 12:15 at the First & Last Tavern on Main Street in Middletown.  We invite you to navigate our website and contact us with any questions.

Yours in Rotary,
